How do I apply for admission?Submit the Application for Admission, pay any required application fee, and submit official transcripts.
I attended college but didn’t earn any credit. Do I still need to have my transcript submitted?Yes, we require final transcripts from all institutions previously attended.
I plan on take a pre-nursing course before applying to the nursing program. Do I still need to sign/submit a nursing acknowledgment form?The Nursing Program Acknowledgement Form is required at the time of general admission so that the student understands the academic requirements needed for entrance into the Nursing program. Please contact Admissions at admissions@midway.edu for a copy of the form.
I have a transcript at home. Can I send that with my application?An admission decision can only be made with official documents. Transcripts are considered official when they are either mailed directly to Midway University from the issuing institution in a sealed envelope or sent electronically by a secured third party such as National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment.
How do I know what credits will transfer?
Midway University accepts transfer credits from regionally accredited institutions that are 100-level or higher with a grade of “C” or better. At the time of admission, our Admissions Counselors will provide an unofficial evaluation of your transfer credit. An official evaluation will be completed by the Registrar’s Office after acceptance.
I already have a college degree. Why do I need to submit my high school transcript?Some majors, such as Nursing, have separate accreditation standards that must met that include having official high school transcripts on file.
How much does it cost?Midway is a private, nonprofit college. To learn more about our costs, view the Tuition and Fees schedule. All questions concerning tuition payments, or payment options, should be directed to the College Business Office.
Is financial assistance available?Students are eligible as “full-time and “part-time” students for Federal loans and may be eligible for Federal and/or State grants. (A full-time student is a student taking 12 credit hours or more per term; a part-time student is a student taking 6-12 credit hours.)For additional information, visit our Financial Aid page.
What ACT/SAT and GPA do I need to qualify for a scholarship?Midway University begins awarding merit scholarships at a 2.5 GPA and an 18 ACT or equivalent SAT score.
How long does it take to receive an admissions decision?Once all required documentation is received, an admissions decision can be made within two business days.
Can First-Year students have cars on campus?Yes, all students may have cars on campus but are required to purchase a $50 parking permit from the University Business Office.
What is the student to faculty ratio on campus?16 to 1
What sort of academic support is available to students?Students can receive assistance from their professors as well as from the Academic Resource Center. The center offers study groups, note-taking tips, tutoring services, etc.
Is there a career services center that can offer help to graduates seeking job opportunities?The Student Development Center offers help to graduates by providing them with employer networking, internship information, resume assistance, and mock interviews, as well as information and help choosing a graduate school program.
Is there a lot to do in the surrounding area?
Yes, the campus is located 15 minutes from Lexington, KY; 1 hour from Louisville, KY; and 1 hour from Cincinnati, OH. All three cities have multitudes of cultural, artistic, and athletic events.
How available are the professors to the students?
Professors make themselves very available to students, giving out their office hours, email addresses, phone numbers, and sometimes even home or cell phone numbers.
How’s safety on campus?
Our campus is very safe and is located in an extremely low crime community. The university employs security offices 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They escort students on campus when needed and even help with car trouble. The university also utilizes a system named “LiveSafe” to instantly notify students by text or email about severe weather issues, school closings, safety alerts, and more. Campus safety reports are available online for review.
Are student health services available?
Midway University offers student health services through our health clinic, located on the lower level of Starks Hall in Room 005.
Services offered include, but are not limited to:
- Physicals
- Chronic illness management
- Allergy shots
- Sick visits
- Medication management
- Rapid testing for illnesses such as flu, strep throat, COVID-19 and UTI
