I chose Midway University because of the people. From the moment I stepped on the beautiful campus, I immediately felt comfortable and at home due to the welcoming staff, coaches, and community. I plan to be involved at Midway University by participating in women's volleyball, as well as other organizations that will help me contribute to my experience.
My future career plan is to become an Occupational Therapist. Midway will help me get there by providing me with an affordable, high quality, undergraduate degree that will give me the opportunity to continue my education in graduate school.
I didn’t just choose Midway because of the location, which was definitely a big factor, but because of the people. The first thing I noticed when I visited the campus was the familial atmosphere. From the very beginning, I felt considered and valued. Whether you end up attending or not, everyone treats you like family, and that sense of belonging stuck with me. At Midway, you’re not just a number being tossed through the office—you’re someone they’ll remember and invite to Thanksgiving and that says a lot about how they value their family.
Midway has so many advantages location wise. It is not only located in a safe town, but there are so many farms around the campus and it is a great opportunity to go and work or volunteer at these neighboring farms and clinics. It is an amazing opportunity, gaining experience and forming connections, that I plan on utilizing throughout my time at Midway.
I plan to be involved in student organizations, campus events, and community service projects. I am especially interested in their Equine program and I hope to take on leadership roles as my time progresses through Midway. I am also very excited to meet my fellow classmates and educators and get to know them.
My future career goal is to be a veterinarian. Midway’s strong academic programs, hands-on teaching, and supportive faculty will help me build the skills and confidence I need to succeed. Through internships, hands-on courses, and mentorship, I know Midway will prepare me to achieve my goals and make a difference in my career and the person I will grow to become.
I chose Midway because I loved the small community and how nice the campus is. The baseball opportunity while also being able to study computer science was the perfect situation for me.
My involvement at Midway has mostly been on the baseball field, but I always make sure to get involved with as many campus events as I can. Casino Night and intramural spikeball were my favorites last year. The wiffle golf event that we created and ran for the Managing Sports Events class was a big hit as well. There is always something to do on campus to keep everyone entertained.
After Midway, I am hoping to get into grad school somewhere and eventually land my dream job at Walt Disney Imagineering. I have always wanted to help design and program the rides and would specifically like to work with the audio-animatronics figures. Midway's computer science program has given me a great understanding of how computers work from the ground up and has helped me develop and strengthen my programming abilities in several programming languages. Knowledge of multiple languages makes me confident I can adapt to any programming practices that my future employer may require.
I chose Midway University because, after coming for a campus tour as a senior in high school, I fell in love with its welcoming atmosphere and beautiful setting. I love the close-knit, small-campus feel that creates such a strong sense of community. Because of this close-knit environment, one of the things that continues to stand out to me is how dedicated the professors are to their students. At Midway, you’re not just a number; you’re truly seen and supported.
I am actively involved in campus life at Midway University in a couple of different ways. I have been a member of the Western Equestrian team here at Midway throughout my entire college career. Along with this, I’ve had the privilege of serving as team captain for the past few years – a role that has strengthened my leadership and teamwork skills. Midway has also given me the valuable opportunity to work at the on-campus barns, where I’ve cared for the university horses full-time during both summer and winter breaks throughout my time at Midway. During the school year, I’ve served as a Barn Chores Manager, working closely with barn staff and underclassmen barn chores students to ensure that daily tasks are completed correctly and efficiently. This role has helped me develop strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, all while deepening my hands-on experience in equine care. In addition to this, I am highly involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) on campus, where I regularly participate in weekly meetings, Bible studies and campus worship nights.
As I am working towards earning my degree in Equine Management with a minor in Business, my career goal is to be the manager of an equine facility. Midway University continues to help me work toward that goal by connecting me with local farms that are hiring, informing me of valuable internship opportunities, and helping me secure job shadowing experiences that align with my career goals.
I chose Midway University because it was the best fit for me both academically and athletically. Also, having the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the president, administrators, and faculty during the Pinkerton Scholarship day solidified my college decision.
I am majoring in sport marketing with a minor in bourbon studies. With this, I plan to pursue a career in Kentucky's growing professional sports and/or bourbon industry. Midway will help me to achieve my goals by providing the necessary resources through various internship opportunities as well as the career services office.
I am a 2023 Pinkerton Scholar, a member of the Women's Soccer Team, a First Year Mentor, and an officer for the Sports Leadership Club.
I chose Midway for a multitude of reasons. As a Dual Credit student, I was granted the opportunity to form a strong connection with professors, staff, and the University as a high school student. My impression of Midway has been nothing short of exceptional. A chief reason I chose Midway was the class sizes. The ability to forge bonds with your professors maximizes the learning experience. Another reason behind my decision was the hiring practices that Midway employs. The professors teach classes related to career relevant experience. Many students underestimate the power of this distinction. Having field-experienced professors is a huge bonus for students as the professors are familiar with the subject they teach beyond the educational setting. These are just a sample of the reasons that I chose to continue my education at Midway. I couldn't be happier with my decision!
In quick succession, I have built strong connections with my professors and other faculty and staff that I encounter on a daily basis. The interpersonal relationships you are able to forge with your professors nurture learning success. From the onset, Midway has felt like a tight-knit community that truly wants to witness everyone succeed. I am beyond proud to be a part of the Midway University community.
I chose Midway University because I knew that being a part of Midway’s career-focused equine program would help me gain not only knowledge but also the skills in equine science and connections with industry professionals I need to start my career in equine research.
I’m a member of the Midway Horse Association, which has led me to volunteer for many equine-related events both on and off campus, such as Midway's Equine Preview Day and the Kentucky 3-Day Event. I'm also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta.
After graduating from Midway University, I plan to attend Cornell University to obtain my Master’s and PhD in equine nutrition, with the goal of becoming an equine nutritionist. Being a Midway student has already been influential in working toward these goals. Although I only just finished my first year, because of my experience and connections at Midway I started my first research internship at the University of Kentucky as part of the UK Pasture Evaluation Program. I do not doubt that my connections and experiences from Midway will continue to be invaluable to my career aspirations.
