Midway University has officially launched a new Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Club, expanding opportunities for students to engage in academic, leadership, and career-focused experiences.
“We are thrilled to bring Future Business Leaders of America to our campus community,” said Dr. Amber Chatelain, Associate Professor of Marketing. “FBLA provides a unique opportunity for students to extend their academic learning beyond the classroom through leadership development and real-world competitions. FBLA can help students build confidence, make connections with peers, and help to shape their careers in a fun, supportive, and structured environment.”
FBLA is the world’s largest career and technical student organization, with chapters at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels across the country. At Midway University, the collegiate chapter prepares students for careers in business and business-related fields through leadership development, academic competition, networking, and service.
FBLA provides students the opportunity to engage in an academic and leadership organization that complements classroom learning through applied, hands-on experiences. Students participate in competitive events, case analyses, and professional development activities that reinforce key concepts in business, communication, leadership, and critical thinking. These experiences allow students to translate academic knowledge into real-world application, preparing them for success in their future careers.
Participation in the FBLA Club provides:
- Competitive events in business, marketing, finance, and more
- Access to exclusive opportunities, state & national conferences
- Structured leadership development
- Professional networking opportunities
- Recognition programs and awards
“Through the FBLA club here at Midway University, I am excited to build professional skills such as leadership and further my confidence in the business world. I also find that this is an amazing opportunity to network with driven and talented people from across the United States and right here in Kentucky,” said FBLA founding Board Member, Chloe Dowler.
While rooted in business and leadership development, the FBLA Collegiate Chapter is open to students from all majors across Midway University’s James C. Bowling School of Business, Health Sciences, and Arts & Sciences. The organization recognizes that leadership, communication, and professional skills are essential in every discipline, making FBLA a valuable experience for students pursuing careers in health sciences, arts, sciences, and beyond.
The launch of FBLA at Midway University reflects the institution’s continued commitment to experiential learning, leadership development, and career readiness, ensuring that students graduate with the skills and experiences needed to succeed in today’s competitive professional landscape.
Students interested in joining FBLA can reach out to Faculty Advisors Dr. Amber Chatelain, Dr. Nikki Kowalski, or Dr. Jerry Sims.
