Midway University held its Spring Commencement Ceremony on Saturday  May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the outdoor Graves Amphitheater, celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025 in a ceremony marked by pride and tradition.

The official procession was led by Dr. Jebediah Gorham, Ph.D., Chair of the Faculty Council. The platform party included Ms. Donna Campbell ’62, Chair of the Midway University Board of Trustees; Trustee Anne Bolton; Trustee Ieasha Allen; Trustee Edie Green; President John P. Marsden; and additional distinguished guests.

President Marsden opened the event with welcoming remarks and expressions of gratitude to attendees. The National Anthem was performed by the Midway Chorale under the direction of Mr. Randall DeMerchant. Pastor Amy Jo Cook, Campus Minister, delivered the invocation.

A total of 456 students earned degrees this academic year, including graduates from December 2024 and spring and summer 2025. Of those, nearly 300 students participated in the ceremony, making this the largest Commencement ceremony in the school’s history.

Two special recognitions were presented during the ceremony.

 Board Chair Donna Campbell '62 presented the Midway Woman Award to Elisma Stoltz (Johannesburg, South Africa), who earned dual degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics.

President Marsden presented the President’s Award to Morgan Harper (Louisville, KY), who earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Haley Hulette ’25, President of the Student Government Association, delivered the student address, encouraging graduates to carry forward the values and memories from their time at Midway.

Degrees were then conferred, beginning with master’s degree recipients, followed by bachelor’s and associate degree candidates. Each graduate was personally recognized by Board Chair Campbell and President Marsden.

President Marsden concluded the ceremony by thanking families, faculty, and staff, and led graduates in the traditional turning of the tassels. Allie Martin ’13, President of the Alumni Association Board, welcomed the Class of 2025 into the alumni network, encouraging them to stay engaged and involved with the University.

The ceremony closed with the Midway University Alma Mater. Prelude and recessional music was provided by Keith Murphy (bagpipes) and the Bourbon & Brass Company, lending a ceremonial and celebratory atmosphere to the event.
