  • Midway University Offers Most Affordable M.Ed. Program in the State

July 20, 2015

(Midway, Ky.) – Midway University has announced that tuition rates for its Master of Education (M.Ed.) program will drop from $410 per credit hour to $200 per credit hour – making it the most affordable online M.Ed. program in the state. The decrease, which will take effect for the Fall 2015 semester, is designed to make a required master’s degree more affordable for working teachers.

“In Kentucky, teachers are required to begin a master’s program within the first five years of receiving certification but there is often no financial support offered, leaving teachers to pay their tuition out-of-pocket. By lowering the cost of this program, Midway University hopes to ease the monetary burden many of these teachers face,” said Dr. Laura Armesto, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. “The decision to reduce tuition rates is just one more way we are building upon our 168-year legacy of educating outstanding teachers.”

Midway University’s M.Ed. Teacher Leader Program is designed for teachers who want to continue working in the classroom while developing leadership skills to help themselves and others become effective teachers and create positive learning environments. The program prepares teachers to improve practices in their schools and to serve as change agents who improve student performance as well as school culture and climate.

The M.Ed. program at Midway can be completed 100 percent online in just 18-24 months. The university is accepting applications for Fall 2015 and is currently waiving administrative fees for online courses.
