  • Midway University to Honor Libby Lloyd Jones

July 17, 2015

Midway, Ky. – Midway University has announced that Libby Lloyd Jones will receive the Legacy Award at the second annual Spotlight Awards on May 28.

The Legacy Award was created to honor a person or persons that have impacted Midway University over a period of many years by giving time, service, support and/or resources. This is a special Midway University award determined by a committee of University representatives.

“Libby has been an invaluable asset to Midway University during her many years as a Trustee and has touched so many lives on this campus and in the community,” said Dr. John P. Marsden, President, Midway University. “It’s an honor for us to present her with this award and celebrate her service to our institution.”

Jones is a second-generation Midway University Trustee who followed in the footsteps of her father, Arthur Young Lloyd. She serves as the Chair of the Board’s Academic Committee and is active in several other organizations throughout Kentucky and the nation. As the co-owner of Airdrie Stud, she is especially involved with groups that promote farmland preservation and agriculture as an educational tool.

Jones is a Director of American Farmland Trust, Vice-Chair of Bluegrass Conservancy, Founding Director of Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom, and Director of the Kentucky Historical Society Foundation. She is also active in soil conservation efforts statewide as a director of the P.A.C.E. Board, working to protect Kentucky’s most productive farmlands in perpetuity.

A lifelong Woodford County farmer, Jones has been married to Governor Brereton C. Jones since 1970. The couple has two adult children, Lucy and Bret, and two grandsons, B and Jack.

Midway University’s Spotlight Awards highlight women (and men) who have been leaders in representing women’s issues, have made an impact that benefits women in the state of Kentucky and beyond, and innovative women in their chosen field. In addition, the awards ceremony is a time for the University to bestow honors on someone who has directly impacted Midway University.
