November 30, 2023

Midway University recently hosted a remarkable International Food Festival that captivated students and faculty, offering a delectable journey around the world. The event not only showcased an array of delicious foods from diverse countries but also served as a cultural exploration, introducing attendees to new traditions and flavors. A notable aspect of the evening was the meaningful interactions between students, fostering an appreciation for the different cultures within the university community.

The Multicultural Students Association (MSA) took pride in presenting 14 different countries, each featuring a unique dish that reflected the cultural identity of its place of origin. The event attracted a total of 187 visitors, all of whom expressed extreme satisfaction with their experience. From Italy’s savory Lasagne alla Bolognese to Germany’s hearty Bratwursts, the festival curated a culinary journey that catered to every palate.

Daniel Cogo, the president of the association, shared the MSA's main goal during the event. He spoke passionately about his own experiences with homesickness and the challenges of adapting to a new culture. Cogo highlighted the association's mission to provide support to those facing similar struggles through initiatives centered around diversity, inclusion, and, most importantly, love.

Beyond the delectable dishes, the International Food Festival showcased the culinary talents of MSA members. Serving as a platform for students to "feel at home away from home," the event allowed them to share their cooking skills and offer glimpses into their cultural customs with friends, professors, and other guests. Attendees had the unique opportunity to interact with students representing their home countries, gaining valuable insights into the inspiration behind their chosen dishes.

Midway University's debut of the International Food Festival was undeniably a success. The event seamlessly blended cultural exchange, campus engagement, and flavorful cuisine. With its resounding success, the festival is poised to become a cherished tradition, promising to continue enriching the university community with diverse experiences and culinary delights for years to come.
