Why did you choose MidwayU?

As a working mom and adult learner, finding a program that fit my busy schedule while providing a high-quality education was essential. Midway University stood out as the best online program I had experienced, offering both flexibility and academic excellence. What truly set Midway apart was the supportive staff and professors who were genuinely invested in my success. Their encouragement and accessibility made a significant impact on my learning journey, reinforcing my confidence and helping me balance my responsibilities while advancing my education.

Favorite MidwayU Experience or Memory

One of my favorite Midway University experiences was having Professor Housley as an instructor. I always looked forward to taking his classes because of the genuine care and support he showed for his students. If he ever saw me struggling, he wouldn’t hesitate to pick up the phone and give me a personal call to check in and offer encouragement. At the beginning of every semester, he made it a point to call and wish me well, setting a positive tone for the months ahead. Even if I missed his call, I loved seeing a voicemail from him—it was a reminder that I had a professor who truly believed in my success. His dedication and personal touch made a lasting impact on my Midway experience.

Skills Learned at MidwayU

During my time at Midway University, I gained invaluable skills that have helped me grow both professionally and personally. As a working mom and adult learner, I honed my time management and organizational skills, learning to balance academic responsibilities with my career and family life. The online program also strengthened my self-discipline and adaptability, essential qualities in today’s fast-paced world.

Academically, I developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills that have been instrumental in my career. Midway’s courses challenged me to analyze complex issues, think strategically, and apply knowledge in real-world situations.

Additionally, the support from professors like Professor Housley enhanced my communication skills, as I learned the importance of professional networking, seeking guidance, and engaging in meaningful discussions.

Overall, Midway provided me with not just an education but the confidence and skills to continue advancing in my career while balancing life’s many demands.

What was your favorite thing about Midway?

Even though I wasn’t on campus often, I still loved the beauty of Midway University and the charming small-town feel that surrounded it. There’s something special about a university that carries both a rich history and a welcoming atmosphere, even for online students like me. Beyond its picturesque setting, one of my favorite things about Midway is the reputation it has gained over the years. I take so much pride in telling people that I graduated from Midway University. When someone asks me where I went to school, I love being able to say 'Midway' because I know it represents a strong, supportive community and a commitment to excellence. Being a part of that legacy is something I will always cherish.

What are some of your hobbies?

I have a variety of hobbies that bring me joy and allow me to express my creativity. Traveling with my family is one of my favorite things to do, and I love exploring new places and creating lasting memories together. I also have a passion for painting and repurposing furniture: it’s my escape when I’m feeling stressed, and I love giving old pieces a fresh, new life. Along those lines, I enjoy repurposing or finding new uses for home decor, always looking for creative ways to refresh a space.

Another hobby I truly enjoy is planning events and parties. Whether it’s a small gathering or a large celebration, I love bringing people together and creating meaningful experiences. I also find fulfillment in mentoring up-and-coming young leaders, helping them navigate their paths and develop their skills. Most of all, nothing makes me prouder than watching my kids succeed in anything they’re working toward—it’s the most rewarding experience of all.

Interesting Fact About You

An interesting fact about me is that while I was a student at Midway University, I was a surrogate for a family I had never met before. It was one of the most meaningful and life-changing experiences of my life. Balancing my studies while going through the surrogacy journey was challenging, but it reinforced my belief in the power of resilience, selflessness, and the incredible gift of helping another family fulfill their dream.
