As an online student, Terry received a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and an MBA. After earning two Associate Degrees at KCTCS in his hometown of Whitesburg, he continued his education at Midway after advice from Ron Brunty, Terry’s advisor at KCTCS.
Honors Night was Terry’s first visit to campus when he received the Outstanding Health Care Administration Student Award.
“It was wonderful meeting the faculty who were so instrumental in my student experience.” Terry said, “Professor Charles Housley had a tremendous impact on my student experience and professional trajectory. I am grateful for his guidance and example, which continues today.”
Terry joined the Midway faculty in 2019 and is now the Health Care Administration Program Coordinator. He is also Chair of the Midway Health Care Administration Program Curriculum Development Board and serves on the Advising Committee. His professional background includes managing multiple specialty physician practices and supervising physicians and staff. Terry also has served on the Board of Directors for his chapter of the American College of Health Care Executives. Terry also is pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration with a concentration in health care management from Liberty University. In his spare time, he enjoys travel, hiking and reading.
“My educational experience at Midway had a profound impact on me as a person and opened the door to my profession, about which I am passionate,” Terry added. “The curriculum was incredibly apt; when I was a clinic manager, I kept the textbooks on a shelf in my office and, referred to them on many occasions. The degrees provided opportunities and ultimately, employment for which I otherwise wouldn't have been considered.”
His advice to current students is to “take time to be in the moment and appreciate both this time in your life and the collegiate experience.”
