February 16, 2021

“Midway opened many doors for me through networking and volunteer opportunities,” explained Shella Jarvis Eagle. Upon graduation, she began a career in state government working in Governor Ernie Fletcher’s office through a connection of former Midway President Dr. Allyson Hughes Handley. A year later, she began a career track with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and currently is the Branch Manager for Prequalification and Compliance.

A Clay County native, Shella was raised by her grandmother and is proud to be the first in her family to graduate college. Shella has two degrees, an Associate degree in Computer Information Systems and a Bachelor’s degree of Business Administration. In addition to receiving scholarships, she worked in Admissions all four years, giving campus tours during the academic year and summers. Belle Wisdom Hall was her home for four years and she was one of the founding members of the dance team. She also began a photography business to assist with her living expenses, and in 2009 began Eagle Photography.

Shella’s fondest Midway memories are the friendships made at Midway. “My fondest memory isn't an event, it’s the friendships I made during my time at Midway. Friendships that continue to bless my life to this day.” She encourages current students to “Enjoy this time in your life, Midway is unique. Although right now it just seems like a college, one day you will realize it’s a family.”
