  • Option 9 Program: Expedited Certification Pathway

Midway University’s Option 9 Program is a state-approved, expedited route designed in partnership with local school districts to cultivate new teachers. This pathway allows you to complete a bachelor's degree and achieve your initial teacher certification in as little as three years while employed by one of our partnering districts.

This program is specifically designed to meet the growing demand for teachers and offers a supportive structure to launch your teaching career immediately.

How the Option 9 Route Works

The Option 9 pathway integrates education, mentorship, and on-the-job experience:

Immediate Employment: Candidates are employed by a partnering district (often as a paraeducator or in a non-teaching role) while simultaneously attending classes at Midway University.

Dual Credential: You earn a full Bachelor's Degree and receive your initial teaching certification at the conclusion of the program.

Mentorship: You receive mentorship and practical experience from veteran teachers within the district throughout your three-year journey.

Financial Support: This route may offer financial support or wages for the work you perform in the school district while completing your degree.
