It is now faster and more affordable to earn your MSN at Midway University.
Undergraduate students now can complete two graduate nursing courses. The courses count towards both their undergraduate and graduate degree credit hours. By enrolling in the MSN 4+1 program, students can earn their bachelor’s degree and an MSN in just five years of continuous study. This is a cost savings of more than $5,000 (with 4+1 discount and alumni discount applied to total cost of degree).
Undergraduate students admitted to this program will be permitted to take two NSG courses their senior year. Choose from NSG 510: Professional Role Transition, NSG 520: Evidence-Based Nursing, or NSG 530: Quality Improvement Safety. The courses will count towards their undergraduate and graduate degrees. These are the same courses offered to graduate students, and MSN students will be in the class.
After earning their bachelor’s degree, students in the 4+1 program then officially apply to the MSN program. By completing the two courses as an undergraduate, the student can complete the MSN programs within a 12-month period.
NOTE: Students are encouraged to talk with their advisors early in their academic curriculum planning process so they can schedule these courses.
The Master of Science in Nursing 4+1 program is designed to offer Midway undergraduates a streamlined approach to completing their MSN at Midway in as little as one extra year and set them apart from others in the workforce.
Students apply to the 4+1 program and are accepted during the spring term of their junior year.
How can a master’s in nursing work for you?
Besides increasing salary levels with an advanced degree, a nurse who earns an MSN degree will have additional career opportunities. Midway’s program allows you to choose to follow the path to either become an administrator or nursing educator.
With an MSN you can also look at specializations in other fields of nursing. The biggest advantage is you will have more choices of growing your nursing career with an advanced nursing degree.
Midway University makes every effort to ensure state licensure or certification information is current; however, state requirements may change.
If you are planning to pursue professional licensure or certification in a state other than Kentucky, you should contact the appropriate licensing entity in that state to seek information and guidance regarding licensure or certification requirements before beginning an academic program.
