Midway University’s Interdisciplinary Studies degree is a program that emphasizes the abilities most demanded in today’s workplace: oral and written communication, critical thinking, technology and information literacy, as well as global awareness.
The Interdisciplinary degree program is flexible and relevant. You will work closely with an advisor to plan your own course of study, which can be broad or tightly focused on one or two disciplines.
No two students' paths are alike within the Interdisciplinary Studies program. It is truly a unique, self-designed program.
As an Interdisciplinary Studies student, you will also participate in research projects and/or internships to gain real-world experience and help you create a job-ready resume.
Interdisciplinary students can choose the path that work best for their academic goals.
The Self-Designed track provides an opportunity for students to create an academic major that is different from the other majors offered by the University. Students may combine multiple academic disciplines to customize a unique program of study, individually tailored to their goals and interests.
The Professional Studies and Career Developments track is designed for students seeking a degree with a varied background and who may have already completed university credits in many subject areas.
The Self-Designed Minor provides an opportunity for students to create an academic minor that is different from other minors offered by the university. Students may combine multiple academic disciplines to customize a unique program individually tailored to their interests.
Students are eligible as “full-time and “part-time” students for Federal loans and may be eligible for Federal and/or State grants. (A full-time student is a student taking 12 credit hours or more per term; a part-time student is a student taking 6-12 credit hours.)

Make sure you get the whole picture before making your decision. First, complete your FAFSA so you can see what financial aid you are eligible to receive and complete your application. Once you are admitted to Midway University, you can meet with our Financial Aid Office to discuss all the eligible aid (federal, state and institutional) that you have access to and apply for scholarships. This is the only way to figure out the true cost and if you will have any out-of-pocket expenses to cover.
Midway University accepts transfer credits from regionally accredited institutions that are 100-level or higher with a grade of “C” or better. At the time of admission, our Admissions Counselors will provide an unofficial evaluation of your transfer credit. An official evaluation will be completed by the Registrar’s Office after acceptance.
Traditional students may declare a major that is only offered online following the guidelines of the online major policy in the academic catalog.
"There are people on Midway's campus that truly want you to succeed. They believe in you before you even believe in yourself. That is the beauty of a small community."
