  • New MSN-MBA Dual Degree Announced

March 17, 2022

Midway University’s Board of Trustees has approved the addition of a new Master of Science in Nursing-Master of Business Administration (online MSN-MBA) dual degree. This new program will begin immediately and will be offered 100 percent online, except for the practicum experience, which can be completed at a student’s workplace or in their local community. Upon completion, students will earn both an MSN and MBA.

“Nurses today need to be critical thinkers who possess business acumen along with strong leadership and interpersonal skills,” said Dr. Chlebowy, Dean of the School of Health Sciences.
“Nurses are regularly called upon to identify, analyze, and solve problems in a global business environment, which is why we created this program. The MSN-MBA dual degree prepares nurses to work as professional leaders in a variety of healthcare settings, corporations, and communities.”

The curriculum is designed for those who have already earned their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and are interested in moving their career forward. Graduates of the program are prepared to lead and resolve increasingly complex healthcare business issues. Graduates are also ready to practice in a culturally and ethnically diverse global society.

“Students focus on professional development, knowledge translation, quality improvement and safety, ethics and health policy, financial and resource management, and organizational leadership,” said Dr. Chlebowy.

Courses are formatted in eight-week modules with five start times during the year. This allows students to take courses around their busy work and home schedules. Additionally, the online MSN-MBA program can be completed in as few as two and a half years.
