Midway, Ky. – Midway University announced the hiring of a new Vice President of Advancement this week. Linda Medley, a veteran development officer, joined the University as the head of the Advancement Office.

Medley, a Certified Fundraising Professional (CFRE), has 36 years of professional experience and has worked in higher education and with other non-profit agencies. Most recently she was the Vice-President of Development at St. Catharine College where she had previously worked earlier in her career. Prior to that she held advancement positions with the Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, the Home of the Innocents and the Methodist Retirements Homes of Kentucky.

“We are pleased to have someone with Linda’s breadth of experience join our staff,” said Dr. John P. Marsden, President, Midway University. “We have some great momentum building at the University and many campus enhancements we wish to make. Having someone with Linda’s leadership skills and experience with higher education and working with non-profit organizations around the state will help us broaden our donor base and build new connections.”

Another addition to the Advancement Office is Ben Shaffar who is the newly appointed Athletic Development Officer. Shaffar, a former professional baseball player, most recently worked for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture as their Director of Business Development. His primary responsibility there was promoting the Kentucky Proud brand through building partnerships and developing new marketing initiatives.

“With our athletic growth this past year and the needs we have to improve our facilities for our student-athletes, we felt it was time to have someone within the University whose main focus is working on advancement projects specifically geared towards athletics,” said Marsden.

Marsden added “Shaffar’s first main project will be to develop a fundraising plan as it relates to our athletic facility needs.”
