Academics and Affordability Key Factors in Rankings
(Midway, Ky.) – Over the last several months, Midway University has earned recognition from several regional and national publications for its strong academic programs and affordability.
Most notably, the university jumped from 65th to 54th on U.S. News & World Report’s list of top colleges in the South. Midway received the ranking based on a number of factors, including an 83 percent freshman retention rate and a 15:1 student/faculty ratio.
Other national publications also honored Midway, including College Factual, sponsored by USA Today, which ranked the university number 10 of 26 in Kentucky. The school, which is the only women’s college in the Commonwealth, was also honored by BestColleges.com, landing at number 10 on the website’s list of Best Women’s Colleges.
Several of Midway’s academic programs were also ranked, including nursing, sport management and health care administration and the institution ranked among the top five online colleges in Kentucky.
“We are honored to have been recognized by so many different organizations this year. Although these rankings are not a comprehensive measure of our entire institution, each of them is a snapshot and high level measure of key indicators for our prospective students and their families to consider when selecting the university which they will attend,” said Dr. John P. Marsden, President, Midway University.
In addition to receiving recognition for its strong academic programs, Midway, which has maintained its low tuition rates to improve college affordability, was ranked 16th by Washington Monthly magazine as one of its top 2016 Best Bang for the Buck Colleges in the South.
“Strong academics and affordability are components of most of these rankings and those are the areas where we focus a great deal of our efforts – providing quality education and making it affordable. This is the third year in a row that Midway University did not raise our tuition rates or room and board and we are the only private college that didn’t raise our rates this year.”
