(Midway, Ky.) – The postseason awards continue to roll in for Midway soccer players Alexus Paige of Frankfort, Ky. and Lauren Schuster of Boston, Ky. The NAIA today announced that they had earned recognition as 2015 NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athletes. The pair were among nearly 600 student-athletes from across the country to receive the accolade. In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
“All season, Alexus and Lauren embodied what it means to be a student-athlete at Midway. I am very proud of their work and dedication in the classroom, on the playing field and in their community,” said head coach Sherrill Smith.
In November, Paige and Schuster earned awards from the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC). Paige was named Midway’s 2015 Champions of Character recipient based on her demonstrated commitment to the five core values of the NAIA’s Champions of Character program, while Schuster earned a spot on the KIAC’s all-conference second team.
