(Midway, Ky.) – During the state high school field hockey tournament on October 27, Midway University and the KHSAA presented the Female Student-Athlete of the Year Award to Elizabeth Allgeier, a senior at Louisville’s Assumption High School. The award caps off a career in which she won local, state and national honors for her prowess on the field, including being nominated as an All-American for the 2016 season.
Away from the field, Allgeier is a strong student who has maintained a 3.9 grade point average while volunteering as a youth field hockey coach and working with children with special needs. “Elizabeth is the whole package. (She’s) one of those young ladies that will forever be in your heart and you feel lucky to have known her and even luckier to have coached her,” said Debbie Judd, head field hockey coach at Assumption. “She makes a difference on and off the field. She is the modest superstar that makes a difference in your life too.”
“Elizabeth Allgeier epitomizes what it means to be a student-athlete and community servant,” said Rusty Kennedy, athletics director, Midway University. “It’s an honor to present this award to a young lady who is so committed to her studies, her sport and her community.”
