February 18, 2020

At its recent annual meeting in January, the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Board of Directors elected Dr. John P. Marsden, President, Midway University as a new member of the board. This is Dr. Marsden’s first time serving on this national board. His term is for three years.

The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), based in Washington, DC, is an association of nonprofit independent colleges and universities that works to support college and university leadership; advance institutional excellence; and enhance public understanding of private higher education’s contributions to society. Eligibility for CIC membership is open to all small and mid-sized private liberal arts colleges and universities in the U.S., as well as those located outside the U.S.

“I am honored to serve on this board to continue the crucial work CIC engages in to support private education,” said Marsden.

Also active in Kentucky higher education, Marsden serves on the Executive Committee and as Treasurer of the Association of Kentucky Independent Colleges and Universities (AIKCU).
