February 15, 2017

(Midway, Ky.) – During the state bowling tournament, Midway University and the KHSAA presented the Female Student-Athlete of the Year Award for bowling to Pleasure Ridge Park standout Abigail Bauer. The award caps off a career in which she won two state titles and was named to the Academic All-Conference team during each of her four seasons.

“In addition to her team leadership, strong academic performance, and continual improvement in bowling performance, Abby is a leader in her school, church, and community,” said Pleasure Ridge Park bowling coach Julie Nichelson. “Abby always displays the highest standards in effort, dedication, and integrity in all of the things she does.  She is the model of an excellent student athlete and well rounded high school student.”

In addition to devoting her time to improving as an athlete, Bauer is a strong student who is enrolled in several AP courses and an active participant in volunteer programs. In the past, she has completed mission trips to Wisconsin and Oklahoma, and regularly serves food to the homeless through her church. She also participates in fundraising activities for Wednesday’s Child, Lincoln Foundation  and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

“Abigail Bauer is an outstanding choice for the Midway University/KHSAA Female Student-Athlete of the Year Award,” said Midway University Athletic Director Rusty Kennedy. “Not only is she a talented athlete, she’s a strong student and works tirelessly to improve her community. She’s a well-rounded young lady with a bright future ahead of her.”
