Midway University’s Bachelor of Science in Accounting provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to have a successful career in the fast-growing and challenging field of accounting. Graduates of this program are fluent in the global language of business and are prepared to take on management positions or become entrepreneurs.
In this program, you will learn how to:

This program is offered both in-seat and online so that students can choose the format that works best for their needs and schedule.
Career Outlook
Many students graduating with an accounting degree find employment before the end of their senior year of college. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of accountants and auditors is projected to grow 6 percent from 2018 to 2028.
Individuals with a degree in accounting can serve in a variety of roles such as:
- Public accountants

- Internal and external auditors
- Information technology auditors
How does this degree prepare you for taking the CPA exam?
Kentucky, along with most other states, requires candidates who sit for the CPA exam to have completed 150 hours of course work including a baccalaureate degree and 27 hours of accounting specific courses. Our Bachelor of Science in Accounting is 120 hours, 27 that are specific to accounting. So students will need to take an additional 30 credit hours of course work to be ready to sit for the CPA exam. Those courses can be taken at Midway or another institution, however Midway University has a great way for our students to earns those credits and earn an advanced degree – the MBA 4+1 progarm.
The Midway Accounting Degree + MBA 4+1 Advantage
Undergraduate students now have the option of applying to the MBA 4+1 program to earn their graduate degree within a year of earning their undergraduate degree.  What this means for Accounting majors is you can earn your undergraduate degree, get an advanced start on your MBA and within 5 years have an undergraduate degree, your MBA and all the additional credit hours to sit for your CPA exam.

Students are eligible as “full-time and “part-time” students for Federal loans and may be eligible for Federal and/or State grants. (A full-time student is a student taking 12 credit hours or more per term; a part-time student is a student taking 6-11 credit hours.)

An admission decision can only be made with official documents. Transcripts are considered official when they are either mailed directly to Midway University from the issuing institution in a sealed envelope or sent electronically by a secured third party such at National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment.

Make sure you get the whole picture before making your decision. First, complete your FAFSA so you can see what financial aid you are eligible to receive and complete your application. Once you are admitted to Midway University, you can meet with our Financial Aid Office to discuss all the eligible aid (federal, state and institutional) that you have access to and apply for scholarships. This is the only way to figure out the true cost and if you will have any out-of-pocket expenses to cover.
Midway University accepts transfer credits from regionally accredited institutions that are 100-level or higher with a grade of “C” or better. At the time of admission, our Admissions Counselors will provide an unofficial evaluation of your transfer credit. An official evaluation will be completed by the Registrar’s Office after acceptance.
Once you have been accepted, the Admissions Office will communicate the Next Steps for you to sign up for an Eagle Prep Registration and explain the Housing Application Process if you plan to live on campus.
