Education Program Admissions Requirements

Checkpoint I: Program Entry

To be formally admitted to the program, a candidate must meet entry level criteria on three of the ten Teacher Standards (Standards I, VI & X) and Midway University Dispositions.

To demonstrate this level of performance, the student will include proof of having:

  • Required GPA 2.75 or higher (Standard 1)
  • Checkpoint 1 quiz (Standard 1, Midway University Dispositions) (has to be opened by administrator; link will be sent out/opened shortly before portfolios are due)
  • Passing PRAXIS CORE scores
  • District Paperwork required for next semester’s field hours (i.e. Criminal Record Check and Restraint Training Certificate)
  • 20 non-classroom field hours summary from KFETS website
  • Letter to the Reader that includes your philosophy of education (Midway University Dispositions)
  • Two Professional Recommendation Letters (One MUST be from an educator; both must be signed by the person who wrote the recommendation)
  • Passing scores of C or higher in EDU 100, 103 and 201
  • Signed KY Code of Ethics (built into LiveText)
  • Community Service/Collaboration
  • Signed Character and fitness questionnaire (built into LiveText)
  • Statement of Mission and Vision (Midway University Dispositions)
  • LiveText portfolio which meets Teacher Standards I,VI, X,and Midway University Dispositions
  • Successfully complete a telephone interview
