Education Program Admissions Requirements
Checkpoint I: Program Entry
To be formally admitted to the program, a candidate must meet entry level criteria on three of the ten Teacher Standards (Standards IV & X) and Midway University Dispositions.
To demonstrate this level of performance, the student will include proof of having:
- Passing PRAXIS Core scores
- Passing score on Checkpoint I quiz (90% or higher)
- Online Field Placement Request Form submitted*
- Positive Behavior in Schools (PBIS) certificate for Field Experience placement for FALL 2020*
- Kentucky Background Check (not FBI, unless your requested school district requires one)*
- Central Registry Check (CAN)*
- Letter to the Reader (details in CP 1 template)
- Two (2) signed professional recommendation letters (one MUST be from an educator)
- Passing scores of C or higher in EDU 103 & EDU 201 and passing grade of P in EDU 188
- Signed Model Code of Ethics for Educators
- Unofficial transcript
- Signed Character and Fitness Questionnaire
- EDU 201 Technology Assignment for Standard 4
- Community Service/Collaboration Write Up for Standard 10
- Summary of 20 non-classroom field hours from KFETS (located on EPSB website)
- Submission of complete CP 1 LiveText portfolio covering required parts of Standards and other requirements (see CP 1 LiveText template for details)
- Successfully complete a telephone interview covering your Checkpoint I portfolio
*Required to receive an official field placement for Fall 2020, along with registering for the corresponding Field Experience course, after successfully passing Checkpoint 1.
