ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT – Jessica Maddox Hemenway ’97

This month, we’re catching up with Jessica Maddox Hemenway from the class of 1997 as she shares her Midway experience and what she’s been up to since graduation.

Hailing from Springfield, IL, Jessica came to Midway after being recruited for the Women’s Soccer team. A four-year starter and two-time captain, the team finished in fifth place at the NAIA national tournament in 1994 and 1995. Off the field, Jessica obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology and is now a pharmaceutical sales representative with Kowa Pharmaceuticals America, Inc.

WHY I CHOSE MIDWAYU: I was recruited by the incredible Mike Joy to play soccer there.

FAVORITE MIDWAYU EXPERIENCE OR MEMORY: My college teammates.

WHAT MIDWAYU MEANS TO ME: At the time, it was just college. Now, looking back, it was so much more. Some of my closest friends are from my college soccer team and I’m so grateful for that.

SKILLS LEARNED AT MIDWAYU: Self-motivation and teamwork.

ADVICE FOR FUTURE EAGLES: Don’t procrastinate with anything in life!

HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Running, the outdoors, soccer (watching/coaching, not playing!), and my family.

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOU: I lived in South Dakota for 10 years
