Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Cynthia T. Long ’79

Originally from Wichita, KS, Cynthia graduated from Midway College with a nursing degree in 1979. She lives in St. Petersburg, FL and currently works for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital as a Plastic Surgery Clinical Leader and is also an End of Life/Grief Counselor.

WHY I CHOSE MIDWAYU

My father was transferred to Lexington with IBM in 1977, and I chose to transfer from the University of Alabama to Midway.

FAVORITE MIDWAYU EXPERIENCE OR MEMORY

Sliding on cafeteria trays during the snow.

WHAT MIDWAYU MEANS TO ME

Midway was a quaint place to discover my abilities through the academia of being a nurse.

HOBBIES/INTERESTS

I am an avid road cyclist, motivational speaker, involved with Toastmasters, and a musician.

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOU

I have been road cycling for 41 years. I played the accordion with the Little German Band in Raleigh, NC for seven years.
