This month we’re shining the spotlight on Cheryl Herrin Rawlings '74 as she reflects on her Midway University experience.
Favorite Midway Experience or Memory: I loved Ms. Parrish. I took Tennis and she was excellent. I loved Ann Botts and Mrs. Lehman, they were excellent English teachers. I still keep in touch with Mrs. Botts. I loved riding my bike all over town with friends. I made many lifelong friends at Midway, people I’m still close to.
What Midway Means to Me: Thinking of Midway brings back so many fond memories. I went on to Morehead for my final two years, but the friendships I made at Midway have lasted my whole life. The teachers at Midway laid the foundation I needed for my career. Midway felt like a family to me. The faculty cared deeply about the students and were always ready to listen and help.
Where are You Now: Cheryl is now retired from teaching, however, she remains active as the president of the Nicholas County Retired Teachers Association, while also serving on the Nicholas County School Board and a citizen representative for Nicholas County in the Bluegrass Area Development District.
