Ashley Dudgeon

Ashley is from Bloomfield, Kentucky. She graduated from Campbellsville University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She went on to complete her MBA there with a concentration in Marketing in 2013.

Favorite Thing About Midway

Most small campuses have that “out in the middle of nowhere” atmosphere because they ARE out in the middle of nowhere. Midway just seems that way, but you actually get the best of both worlds because of the close proximity of Lexington, Frankfort and Georgetown—all just fifteen minutes away! So you can be on the glorious, quiet, calm and safe campus one minute-and the next-catching a movie or at a mall with your friends in Lexington!

College Search Advice

Be open-minded, and don’t believe what everyone tells you. What your friends and family know or believe about a college may be their own perception, or may have changed in the past few years. One of the biggest examples of perception is cost of attendance-the listed amount on the website is almost never the bottom line. Make sure to check out lots of schools, ask questions and get answers for yourself! What you’ll find is that many schools have similar offerings, at the end of the day it comes down to a gut feeling and what works financially.

Melody Small

Melody is from Bowling Green, Kentucky. She graduated from (then) Midway College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies, concentration in Health and Rehabilitation and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Favorite Thing About Midway

1) The horses.
2) The people.
3) The DESSERTS.

Having our horses on campus gives us a huge advantage for our program, not to mention the thousands of horses that surround us. The people here have given me so much support, I can’t even begin to explain it. I wouldn’t be who I am today without them. And the food? Need I say more?

College Search Advice

Explore everything – every college, every major that you are interested in, and don’t let anyone else make decisions for you. I don’t want you to be somewhere, doing something, and realize that you regret that. Part of college is growing and sometimes changing, yes, but always listen to yourself above all else. Additionally, don’t be afraid of changing and becoming who you are meant to be. You have a lot of potential, but you have to be the one to reach it.

Melody works with Equine Majors, Equestrian Athletes, and students whose last name starts with A – F. She can be reached at msmall@midway.edu or by phone at 859.846.5822.

Kelsey Whitehouse

Kelsey is from Bowling Green, Kentucky. She graduated from Midway University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and an Associate of Science in Business Administration.

Favorite Thing About Midway

The environment that we have at Midway is something so special and has honestly made me who I am today. Being from a few hours away I was really nervous about moving from home to start this new chapter of my life but as soon as I stepped on campus I knew I was right where I needed to be. The people that I met and the experiences that I had made for the most special years of my life and I couldn’t be more grateful for Midway and everyone in it.

Communication is key. The saying “You’ll never know if you never ask” applies to all areas of life and the college search is no exception. Your Admissions Counselor is there to give you all of the information that they can to help you in your search but if you don’t use them then you could end up making a decision that isn’t the best for you in the long run. Also, come to preview days and events where professors, current students, coaches and other people that are on campus everyday are and talk to them. Hear from more than just one type of person at a school because everyone has a different experience.

Kelsey works with Student-Athletes. She can be reached at kwhitehouse@midway.edu or by phone at 859.846.5342.

Midway University, has the perfect small community feeling. From the abundance of campus activities to all the shops and restaurants downtown, you will always see a friendly face. This is one of my favorite things about Midway.

College Search Advice

Go on as many campus visits as you can and make sure to ask lots of questions to help you find the best fit. Search outside of your comfort zone. There are so many opportunities out there and one of them will be perfect for you.
