Ashley Dudgeon

Ashley is from Bloomfield, Kentucky. She graduated from Campbellsville University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She went on to complete her MBA there with a concentration in Marketing in 2013.

Favorite Thing About Midway

Most small campuses have that “out in the middle of nowhere” atmosphere because they ARE out in the middle of nowhere. Midway just seems that way, but you actually get the best of both worlds because of the close proximity of Lexington, Frankfort and Georgetown—all just fifteen minutes away! So you can be on the glorious, quiet, calm and safe campus one minute-and the next-catching a movie or at a mall with your friends in Lexington!

College Search Advice

Be open-minded, and don’t believe what everyone tells you. What your friends and family know or believe about a college may be their own perception, or may have changed in the past few years. One of the biggest examples of perception is cost of attendance-the listed amount on the website is almost never the bottom line. Make sure to check out lots of schools, ask questions and get answers for yourself! What you’ll find is that many schools have similar offerings, at the end of the day it comes down to a gut feeling and what works financially.

Andrew Pendleton

Andrew is from Lexington, KY. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He went on to complete a Master of Arts in Student Personnel Services in Higher Education there in 2019.

Favorite Thing About Midway

Midway has a unique setup where the campus is small enough to easily navigate but large enough to where you get the true “college feel.” Students can get from one class to another, or from their residence hall to the dining hall, in less than 5 minutes. This makes life as a college student that much easier to manage, especially as an incoming freshman!

College Search Advice

Figure out what works best for you. At the end of the day, choosing the college that will put you in the best position 4 years later, and the one that makes you happiest is what is most important. Visit all the campuses that you are interested in, compare programs, check out athletics teams and student organizations, and find out where you fit in best!

Brandi Gilbert

Brandi is from Green Bay, Wisconsin. She graduated from Ball State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Favorite Thing About Midway

There are a couple of things I like about Midway. First, it is such a beautiful gem hidden in the middle of Kentucky! The campus itself, as well as the surrounding horse farms, are such a serene and peaceful setting. Second, the small size of the campus and student body makes it a very welcoming and comforting place to begin the next chapter of a student’s life. You will never feel lost in the crowd, because everyone is so friendly and it is very easy to get to know everyone.

College Search Advice

Give yourself plenty of time and choices. Be sure to visit the campuses of the schools you are interested in, so you can get a feel for the atmosphere. Make sure the school has plenty of options for you to choose from for your course of study as well as resources to help you along your journey. Don’t just fall for the brochures or your friend’s choices…take time to make sure it feels right to you!

Laura Woolridge

Laura is from Frankfort, Kentucky. She graduated from Transylvania University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in English. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration, Equity and Policy at the University of Louisville.

Favorite Thing About Midway

The sense of community! Faculty and staff go out of their way to support students in and out of the classroom; showing up at sporting events, late night breakfasts, and everything in between. Students cheer each other on and inspire each other to excel. When you’re on Midway’s campus, you’re guaranteed to receive a friendly smile and to be surrounded by people who care about your success and well-being.

College Search Advice

Ask questions and listen to your gut. Part of finding the right college is finding your best fit and you’ll know it when you find it. Asking questions allows you to find out if a school is right for you. Think about preparing different questions for an admissions counselor, professors, current students, and potential coaches and teammates. Doing so will give you several perspectives of a college and may help you see yourself there. Everyone wants to help you feel at home and there are no bad questions when deciding on a college.
