What is a QEP?
The Quality Enhancement Plan is the component of the accreditation process that reflects and affirms the commitment of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to the enhancement of the quality of higher education and to the proposition that student learning and student success are at the heart of the mission of all institutions of higher learning.
Why are we doing a QEP?
The QEP is part of the University’s accreditation process. The regional accrediting body, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requires its member institutions to develop and implement a Quality Enhancement Plan that (a) has a topic identified through its ongoing, comprehensive planning and evaluation processes; (b) has broad-based support of institutional constituencies; (c) focuses on improving specific student learning outcomes and/or student success; (d) commits resources to initiate, implement, and complete the QEP; and (e) includes a plan to assess achievement.
Midway University's QEP (2025-2030)
The focus of Midway’s 2025 QEP is titled R.A.C.E. From Starting Gate to Finish Line: Readiness Accelerates Career Excellence.
The goal is to boost our students' confidence, make them career-ready, and increase opportunities for internships, jobs, and grad school. Think of time at Midway like a horse race—from the starting gate to the finish line, we’re helping students prepare to cross into their future career successfully!
Why is this important?
Midway University is committed to helping our students build the skills they need for a successful career. The R.A.C.E. plan is designed to improve career readiness by making sure students gain essential job-related skills throughout your college experience. This includes:
Connecting Courses to Career Skills – General education and major courses will clearly highlight how they develop important job skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Enhancing Career Services – More career-focused advising, networking opportunities, and internship support will be available.
Building Financial & Life Skills – Students will learn about budgeting, financial wellness, and professional skills to help you transition smoothly into the workforce.
Preparing for the Job Market – Student's first-year experience course, major courses, and capstone projects will now include career preparation activities, resume building, and interview practice.
