Program Highlights

Students can select a major or minor in English. Outside the classroom, students can participate in the writing and design of The Midway Muse or be involved in a theater production.

The Midway Muse

The Midway Muse is Midway University’s student-run literary magazine. While The Midway Muse publishes creative writing like poetry and short stories, the magazine also promotes student work in the visual arts—sculpture, painting, and photography—the musical arts—lyrics and recorded performances—and in the cinematic arts—short films and scripts.

Theatre Production

Midway Theater is for students interested in participating in a full theatrical production. Students explore theater from page to stage as a live performing art. While a degree is not offered in Theatre Arts, students may earn English or elective credits for working on a play each semester, whether behind the scenes or on the stage.

Student Testimonial

"Working nights at my job has limited my face-to-face communication with my supervisor. I rely a lot on the written word to communicate with my boss. Thanks to my vast amount of English classes at Midway, I'm prepared for a part of my job that others in my position struggle with. My professors were always available to help me whenever I needed them. They never acted bothered whenever I asked for help. My professors also laid out exactly what was expected of me. Midway's close knit family atmosphere is what kept my coming back every year. I loved being in a place where everyone accepted me and wanted to watch me grow. You don't get that at a lot of universities."
