Midway University’s on-campus or online Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education P-5 program can train you to work with young learners in elementary schools.

Upon graduation, you will meet the requirements for certification to teach kindergarten through fifth grade in Kentucky. Through reciprocal agreements, students should be able to achieve certification in some other states as well.

Once students are accepted at Midway University, they then will need to apply for acceptance into the Teacher Education program.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment of kindergarten and elementary school teachers is projected to grow 7 percent from 2020 to 2030, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Median salaries for elementary teachers was $61,350 in May 2022.

Let your Admissions Counselor know if you are interested in pursuing Option 9 though one of our school district partnership agreements.

Students are eligible as “full-time and “part-time” students for Federal loans and may be eligible for Federal and/or State grants. (A full-time student is a student taking 12 credit hours or more per term; a part-time student is a student taking 6-12 credit hours.)

An admission decision can only be made with official documents. Transcripts are considered official when they are either mailed directly to Midway University from the issuing institution in a sealed envelope or sent electronically by a secured third party such at National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment.

Midway University works hard to provide quality degree programs at an affordable price for our students. Students can view our Tuition and Fees Schedule online.

Make sure you get the whole picture before making your decision. First, complete your FAFSA so you can see what financial aid you are eligible to receive and complete your application. Once you are admitted to Midway University, you can meet with our Financial Aid Office to discuss all the eligible aid (federal, state and institutional) that you have access to and apply for scholarships. This is the only way to figure out the true cost and if you will have any out-of-pocket expenses to cover.

Midway University accepts transfer credits from regionally accredited institutions that are 100-level or higher with a grade of “C” or better. At the time of admission, our Admissions Counselors will provide an unofficial evaluation of your transfer credit. An official evaluation will be completed by the Registrar’s Office after acceptance.

Traditional students may declare a major that is only offered online following the guidelines of the online major policy in the academic catalog.

Yes, Midway University currently has Option 9 agreements in place with five school districts – Harrison County Schools, Henry County Schools, Pulaski  County Schools, Spencer County Schools and Trimble County Schools. Students interested should speak with their Admissions Counselor or Dr. Faye Deters for specific details.
