The Bachelor of Science in Coaching and Sport Leadership at Midway University is committed to providing a positive learning environment where students cultivate their passion for coaching athletes in an array of environments and at multiple levels of sport. The Coaching and Sport Leadership curriculum allows students to combine their passion for sport with a well-developed understanding of the foundational and practical applications of coaching methods. This degree for coaching allows students to build foundational knowledge, learn the practical applications of coaching principles, apply an understanding of technology and prepare to deliver programs to athletes as they gain access to a career in coaching and beyond.

The potential job market for graduating students may include, but is not limited to, positions in university athletic departments, professional sport organizations, sport governing bodies, youth sport organizations, non-profit sports organizations and parks and recreation departments.

  • Develop foundational knowledge to enact an athlete and team-centered coaching philosophy.

  • Communicate clearly and demonstrate an understanding of technological applications for program, athlete and team management.

We offer a simple online application process. Create your account, submit all materials and track your application status conveniently online. Admissions Counselors are available to assist you with the application process and answer any questions you may have about Midway University and our programs. Students are eligible as “full-time and “part-time” students for Federal loans and may be eligible for Federal and/or State grants. (A full-time student is a student taking 12 credit hours or more per term; a part-time student is a student taking 6-12 credit hours.)

An admission decision can only be made with official documents. Transcripts are considered official when they are either mailed directly to Midway University from the issuing institution in a sealed envelope or sent electronically by a secured third party such at National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment.

Midway University works hard to provide quality degree programs at an affordable price for our students. Students can view our Tuition and Fees Schedule online.

Make sure you get the whole picture before making your decision. First, complete your FAFSA so you can see what financial aid you are eligible to receive and complete your application. Once you are admitted to Midway University, you can meet with our Financial Aid Office to discuss all the eligible aid (federal, state and institutional) that you have access to and apply for scholarships. This is the only way to figure out the true cost and if you will have any out-of-pocket expenses to cover.

Midway University accepts transfer credits from regionally accredited institutions that are 100-level or higher with a grade of “C” or better. At the time of admission, our Admissions Counselors will provide an unofficial evaluation of your transfer credit. An official evaluation will be completed by the Registrar’s Office after acceptance.

Traditional students may declare a major that is only offered online following the guidelines of the online major policy in the academic catalog.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics show the projected growth just for coaching jobs to be 20 percent from 2021 to 2031. In addition to coaching jobs, the sports industry has a great number of jobs and positions available. Positions can include:

  • Facilities manager
  • Scouts
  • Umpires, referees, and other officials
  • Sport marketing directors or managers
  • Business owners in various sporting areas
  • Ticketing and event planning
