Midway University Presents 2018 Spotlight Awards

(Midway, KY) – At its 5th annual Spotlight Awards on Thursday, May 17, Midway University presented two awards – the Midway University Legacy Award and the Pinkerton Vision Award.

The Midway University Legacy Award was presented to longtime trustee Janet Green Hunter. This award honors a person or persons that have impacted Midway University over a period of many years by giving time, service, support and/or resources.

Donna Moore Campbell, chair of the Midway University Board of Trustees said this about Hunter as she made the presentation. “Jan’s service to Midway University began in February 2000. Over the years she has served on several board committees. She most recently served as Vice Chair of the Board and chaired our strategic planning and development committee.”

Campbell went on to say, “Jan has given her time and generous monetary support to the institution and she was the impetus of our current Campaign of Opportunities with a lead gift to help build a new field house, construct an on-campus baseball stadium and make improvements to residential housing.”

The Pinkerton Vision Award honors an individual or a group who has had an impact on women’s lives or served as a strong role model for women. This year’s recipient was Dress for Success Lexington for their work to help women gain economic independence.

Dr. John P. Marsden, President, Midway University, had this to say in his presentation of the award. “Dress for Success Lexington brings services and career development opportunities to women in the Lexington community. Since its founding in 2013, the organization has served more than 675 women through their Suiting Program and Career Center.”

Marsden added “the women served in Central Kentucky have ranged in age from 16 to 81 and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. This organization resonated well with Midway University as an institution that offers a career-focused education, provides support through our career services office, and champions women and leadership.”

The Midway University Spotlight Awards Dinner is the University’s largest annual fundraiser. All proceeds from the dinner and auctions during the event go to support ongoing academic programming and student scholarships. The 2018 Spotlight Awards were presented by Community Trust Bank.
