Weather Alerts

In the actuality of inclement weather the plans below outline the Midway College Protocol.

The information will be available to students, faculty and staff via:
• the Midway College Portal at https://portal.midway.edu
• by recorded message on one of the College’s weather lines
• on local television stations WLEX and WKYT and with the Lexington Herald-Leader (www.kentucky.com) and local radio stations
• Phone, email and/or text messages will be sent to registered contact numbers/emails from Midway College's OneCall Now System

Women’s College Weather Line: 859-846-5858, weather/class related message posted by 6 AM
SCD (Evening Classes) Weather Line: 1-866-747-0003, weather/class related message will be posted after 4 PM.

Satellite Campuses:
• Classes held on the campus of a host institution i.e. KCTCS will follow the schedule of that school
• Classes held at the Lexington Campus and in McKee will follow the main Midway College campus schedule

PLAN A -- 1 Hour Delay

FACULTY / STUDENTS STAFF
• Classes begin on a one hour delay. • Campus offices open at 9:00AM.
• 8:00 classes begin at 9:00AM. • Employees with normal work hours beginning prior
to 9:00AM are delayed to 9:00AM start.
• All classes up to noon are 55 minutes in length. • Supervisors are encouraged to modify lunch breaks
from 60 minutes to 30 minutes or extend work times for affected employees to make up lost hour.
• 12:30 classes begin with a five minute delay and commence at 12:35 PM. • Employees designated as critical are exempt from above.
• All remaining afternoon classes follow the “regular” schedule.  
   

In the event the weather conditions and other circumstances call for a longer start delay, the following plan will be followed:

PLAN B -- 2 Hour Delay

FACULTY / STUDENTS STAFF
• Classes scheduled (as per the regular schedule) to begin after 10:00 AM will be held at their regular time, i.e., a class scheduled from 10:45-noon will be held. • Campus offices open at 10:00AM.
• All classes scheduled to begin prior to 10 AM are cancelled for the day, i.e., 8:00-9:15AM classes and 9:20-10:35 classes cancelled • Employees with normal work hours beginning prior to 10:00AM are delayed to 10:00AM start.
  • Supervisors are encouraged to modify lunch breaks from 60 minutes to 30 minutes or extend work times for affected employees to make up lost hours.
  • Employees designated as critical are exempt from above.
   

COLLEGE CLOSING

FACULTY / STUDENTS STAFF
• Classes cancelled. • Campus offices closed for the day.
• Faculty not expected to come to campus for office hours or other activities. • Employees scheduled to work will be credited with eight (8) hours paid time.
  • Employees scheduled off for vacation or other activities will not receive the eight hour credit.
  • Employees designated as critical are exempt from above.
