The Midway Cross-Country Team looks to build on the success the team had last year when competing as a club sport. With 7 returning runners and a strong freshman class the expectations are high for this team competing in its first year as a varsity sport at Midway College. Expected to leading the way for The Eagles will be returning runners Shauna Sides, Lauren Bradshaw, and 2-sport star Ashley Harmon. Freshman Nikki Hoback and Nicole Porembski, both previous state qualifiers, will be adding much needed depth to the front of the Eagle pack.
Second-year head coach John Davisson is excited at what lays before him and his young team. "I was extremely proud of how we performed both on and off the course last year, but I expect even greater things this time around. We came into last year with little to no training over the summer months, and very little competitive experience. However, that is not the case this year, as the returning athletes as well as the newcomers have put in the time and miles over the summer, which is a real key to success in Cross-Country, and we all gained a lot of experience from last year."
