Midway, KY — Midway College is pleased to announce that Taylor Wade, a junior at Midway College in Midway, Kentucky has been selected as the 2010 Ruth Slack Roach Scholar recipient.
Ms. Wade, a native of Woodford County, Kentucky was a graduate of Woodford County High School. She is majoring in teacher education. Ms. Wade is a member of the Midway Eagles softball team and serves as Student Government Association President.
One Midway College student is selected each fall based on academic performance and a spirit of service. Helen Roach, the daughter of Ruth Slack Roach, for whom the scholarship was established, had this to say about her mother. “This award was created by friends and others who knew my mother, to commemorate her spirit. That spirit was reflected in the service she gave to her community and the programs she helped create to enhance the lives of others. Among her good works she started the Headstart program in Midway, the Midway Recreation Department and raised money for the first swimming pool in Woodford County at Falling Springs. It is that spirit of doing and making a difference that we honor with this scholarship today.”
Ms. Taylor Wade is the daughter Rick and Debbie Wade of Versailles, Kentucky.
