Midway, KY- Midway College is pleased to announce that it will host summer camps during the month of June. Two unique camps have been designed by the faculty and staff and are offered to children ages 7 to 16.
Girl Power! Camp is a week-long day camp focused on developing independence, building self-confidence and teaching girls to be leaders though a wide variety of fun, hands-on activities. Sessions will include, but not be limited to:
• Defend Yourself - learn the basics of self-defense;
• Cooking Essentials - have fun learning to cook healthy snacks with our own Chef Kindel
• Find Your Voice - preparing and performing musical numbers on Midway's stage;
• Techno-Savvy - learning to use technology in today's world for fun; and,
• Leadership through Horsemanship - developing confidence by observing and participating in basic horsemanship.
During the "Between the Ears" Equine Camp participants will learn about a horse's perspective in horsemanship, riding and non-riding activities. Structured age appropriate activities will encourage campers to gain a new perspective about horses. Riding experience is not necessary, as the camps are beginner level and will introduce horse science, equine crafts, and strengthen leadership skills. Through a combination of riding exercises, basic equine care, and other instructional activities, students will learn to work in partnership with the horse. This camp is open to girls and boys; one age group per week.
