Midway, KY- Midway College graduates and their guests are in for a special treat this year as famed female jockey, author and broadcaster Donna Barton Brothers offers the commencement address. The commencement services will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. in the Graves Amphitheater on the Midway College campus in Midway, Kentucky.
"We are pleased to have Ms. Barton Brothers as our featured speaker this year," said Dr. John Marsden, President, Midway College. "Each year we want our commencement ceremony to be unique and special for our graduates who have reached an important milestone. Ms. Barton Brothers' life experiences are extraordinary, and we look forward to her personal message of inspiration to our graduates."
Ms. Barton Brothers racing career highlights include placing second in the Breeder's Cup Juvenile with Hennessey in 1995 and leading stakes winning rider at Churchill Downs' 1995 Spring/Summer meet. She has been a part of the NBC broadcasting family since 2000 when she began as their on-track reporter and racing analyst on their Thoroughbred horse racing shows. She has since covered the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes, and Breeder's Cup among many other events. She is also the author of ""Inside Track: Insider's Guide to Horse Racing", a book designed to explain the sport of racing and the track world to those outside the sport.
This year's commencement service at Midway College will honor 353 graduates which include those who earned their degrees in December and at the end of the spring 2014 semester.
