Track & Field Season Outlook

The 2010 Midway Track & Field team has a mix of experienced returning athletes and a few talented newcomers that could combine for a very competitive team by the end of the season. Leading the way for the Eagles is the leading scorer from last year’s team Lydia Wilhelm who specializes in the Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin throwing events. Also returning from last year’s team is long distance runner Sarah Sykes and sprinters Nicole Porembski, Ashley Peterson, and Hollie Fulton. New to the Midway team this year, but sure to make an impact, are Freshmen Megan Barnish (Middle Distance) and Nisa Sutherland (Sprinter).

Also bringing excitement this year is the fact that the KIAC will be sponsoring a conference championship in Track & Field for the first time in over a decade. “We have several athletes who can compete and score in multiple events at the conference level and I am very excited for our athletes that for the first time in my tenure at Midway College they will have a chance to compete against only the people in our conference. With our mix of athletes across the spectrum of events I expect us to do very well at the conference championship in April,” states Head Coach John Davisson.
