Midway College Tennis Coach Looks at Upcoming Season With Great Expectations

Midway, KY—Midway College Tennis is fast-paced, exciting and spirited. This season will be no different as the Eagles carry their tradition of success onto the courts for another year. The season official began September 6 and will continue through October 31 with regular season and post season play.

“We are truly optimistic about the upcoming year. Our team enjoyed such success and so many honors last year with a 12-4 record, three All-Conference players, the Conference Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. Still, we believe we are ready to duplicate and even surpass this standard of performance.” commented Coach Hoffman. Coach Hoffman begins her fourteenth year as Head Coach of the Tennis Eagles. She further states, “Our team has all of the skill and knowledge to bring formidable opposition to any competitor we face. Most importantly, each of my athletes is a successful student progressing steadily toward their degreed and each exemplifies the values of NAIA Champions of Character.”

Leading the team is last year’s KIAC Conference Player of the Year, Jessica Kutch. Right behind her is All-Conference teammate, Ashley Melchiore. Jessica and Ashley will co-captain the team and lead their fellow student athletes to many victories. Two additional returnees from the 2008-09 season are Amy Castle and Lottie Boyed.

According to Coach Hoffman, there were many position openings this year due to a large number of graduates over the last two years. This has created a great opportunity for many talented newcomers. Look for Yemurai Muskwe to bring quick action at the net. and Anna Mushtakova and Patti Skelly to add great depth to the singles line-up Natasha Koerber, Jessica Presley, and Britney Lynch round-out the talent of the new Tennis Eagles.

“Along with Assistant Coach, Amy McCracken, in her fourth year with the Eagles, we look forward to preparing an outstanding group of student-athletes whose legacy will be that of champions,” stated Hoffman.
