Midway College Softball is looking to build off of a strong performance from last season with a number of new members to the squad. Freshmen pitchers Hailey Roby (Whitesville, KY) and Faith Clark (Greensboro, TN) will look to compliment returning pitcher Haley Wagner (Paris, KY) to form a tough staff. Infielders Jayla Jefferson (Burlington, KY), Macy Johnson (Frankfort, KY), and Addison Murphy (Louisville, KY) have brought depth to an experienced infield with returning players Drewcila Jackson (Somerset, KY), Kimber Roberts (LaGrange, KY), Brittany Kendall, (Shelbyville, KY), and Lacey Holt (Russell Springs, KY). Lastly, Amber Sontos (Walback, WV) and Gabby Bruner (O’Fallon, MO) join returning outfielders Karie Powell (Sulphur, KY) and Savannah Stigers (Frankfort, KY) to have one of the speediest outfields ever seem at Midway College.
The Eagles have focused on coming together as a team and making sure each person is held accountable on and off the field. This academic year they have already participated in community service projects in Midway and in Lexington by cleaning up downtown Midway after the Fall Festival activities and has again dedicated one day out of each month to pack backpacks of food for underprivileged students at an elementary school in Lexington sponsored by Southern Hills United Methodist Church.
Opening day for the Spring season is February 22nd at home against Northwestern Ohio Univeristy.
