Head Golf Coach - Otis Smith (1st year)
Coach Otis Smith joins the Midway College coaching staff as the college’s first Head Golf Coach and is ready to lead the inaugural team for 2013-14.

Coach Smith is a PGA Professional having completed the Professional Golf Management Program, a three year course in golf business management and being elected to PGA membership in January, 2008. During his ten-year tenure as a golf professional at East Lake Golf Club’s, Charlie Yates Course in Atlanta, Georgia, Coach Smith taught over nine-hundred students how to play the game. Additionally, Coach Smith has taught classes for Emory University, as well as other schools in the metro Atlanta area including Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Agnes Scott College. He also performed the duties of assistant golf coach for Savannah College of Art and Design - Atlanta (SCAD).

Coach Smith is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and a veteran of the US Army. While in the Army he attended Columbia College. Prior to his career in golf, Coach Smith worked as a Human Resources manager for thirteen years. Coach Smith is married to Dr. Cassandra Smith, Assistant Program Director at Morehead State University, and they have two children Andre and Nicolette. He continues to pursue his dream of playing on the PGA Tour, by competing in golf tournaments and trying to qualify for and PGA Tour events.

Coach Smith believes that his Midway College team will quickly rise to the top of the conference. His coaching style will be instructive and motivational and his philosophy toward golf is based on a strong work ethic, competitive spirit and experiencing the enjoyment of the game. Coach Smith is ready to prepare the Midway Golf Eagles to soar!
