Head Archery Coach - Clifton Tompkins (Cliff) (1st year)
Coach Cliff Tompkins joins the Midway College coaching staff as the college’s first Head Archery Coach and is ready to lead the inaugural team for 2013-14.

Coach Tompkins’ passion for archery has driven him to be an avid participant, instructor, and coach for over seven years. He first started coaching for the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) team at the Frankfort Christian Academy and then moved to develop another outstanding NASP team, this at Elkhorn Middle School. Additionally, Coach Tompkins is co-coaching a Junior Olympic team from Louisville with Coach Dennis Walter.

In addition to coaching at Midway, Coach Tompkins is employed by the Kentucky State Police Central Forensic Lab in Frankfort KY as a Certified Property and Evidence Specialist. Prior to this position, for over twelve years, Coach Tompkins served with the Louisiana and Kentucky National Guard. Before that, he served our country for eight years as an Army Infantry Soldier in the U.S. Army.

Coach Tompkins guiding philosophy for coaching the Midway Archery Team stems from a saying of Vince Lombardi who, at the time was the head coach for the Green Bay Packers. Coach Lombardi said “Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” Coach Tompkins believes that the success of the archery team will come from hard work, perseverance, teamwork, and the pursuit of perfection.
