Midway College is a fascinating place with a fascinating history.

From humble beginnings as the Kentucky Female Orphan School in 1847, to an enrollment of 1,700 today, Midway College focuses on serving the underserved and bringing programs to those who might not otherwise be able to attend college due to job, family, and travel constraints.

Our faculty, staff, and students are involved in a variety of interesting projects and groups, and so many exciting activities take place on our campus.

From the biology faculty who use the stream on campus for numerous experiments and classroom assignments, to the nursing faculty who are involved in developing nursing exams and evaluating assisted-living facilities, our faculty are constantly bringing real-world examples into the classroom.

Our teacher education students who are involved in the Kentucky Education Association Student Program (KEA-SP) are recognized often for their achievements, including best newsletter (Apple Bytes), best advisor (Alison Critchfield), and current KEA-SP Midway chapter president Tracy Werkheiser just won a national scholarship…one of only two in the nation!

There are so many examples of greatness at Midway College. I invite you to check back in regularly and visit the News, Events, and Press Releases links on the home page. And visit our athletics pages to follow our fabulous athletic teams, including basketball, cross country, track, tennis, soccer, volleyball, and softball, as well as our equine riding teams in western, hunt seat, dressage and eventing.

Each summer we host the Francisco’s Farm Arts Festival. In 2008, the fifth-annual show will take place June 21 and 22. More than 100 juried artists will be present, along with musicians, great food, and special exhibits. Francisco’s Farm was just named to the Top Ten Festivals list in AmericanStyle magazine for the second consecutive year and has received numerous other awards and accolades!

If you are in the area, visit Midway College! We are located in beautiful Midway, KY, just off Interstate 64, in the heart of the Bluegrass Region.  You can walk our picturesque, park-like campus, stroll through our horse farm, and then visit the famous shops and restaurants downtown!
