The Starks Hall Story

Starks Hall, named in honor of John Price Starks, was built in 1925 to serve the needs of the Kentucky Female Orphan School, which for 20 years essentially functioned as a high school. Mr. Starks was one of the early trustees and one of the first major donors to the school.

Today, the same building is used six days per week for 18 hours per day to serve Midway’s Women’s College during the day; the School for Career Development (SCD) during the evenings; and Midway College Online 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Midway College offers educational programs designed around a diverse student body with diverse student needs and the facilities must accommodate this non-stop activity.
