Endowing Midway’s Purpose:
Campaign for the Purposeful Endowment of $50 Million
Fulfilling the resources needed to
New Generation. New Challenges. Same Purpose.
For 160 years, our service to women has revolved around character formation.
This is Midway’s purpose.
Help us to Endow Midway’s Purpose by planning a contribution toward the $13.75 million goal.
With new challenges and expectations facing women, this funding will elevate the Midway Experience to prepare a new generation with the same boldness, inspiration, and moral responsibility.
In light of the progress that women have achieved, expectations instead of suppression headline the landscape of challenges.
Women still face stereotypes, glass ceilings and income discrepancies.
Families rely on dual incomes, yet life for children becomes more complicated and demanding.
Society presents conflicting values systems ranging from spiritual principles to the free marketplace.
In the midst of these influences, expectations placed on women create significant pressure. Preparation requires more than a degree.
With new challenges and expectations facing women, this funding will elevate the Midway Experience to prepare a new generation with the same boldness, inspiration, and moral responsibility.
More than 160 years ago, Dr. L. L. Pinkerton set out to establish a school that would save the lives of young orphan women.
These young women faced the prospects of an unwelcoming world of predetermined roles and few expectations for intellectual contribution.
As the restrictive mid-1800s transitioned into the liberating days of the mid-1900s, women still faced stereotypes and expectations of dependence on others.
Today, women are running for President of the United States, leading multinational companies, leading spiritual growth within the faith-based community and are pursuing intellectual discovery in every field.
Beginning in 1847, this school has approached education from a character formation perspective through committed role models, student bonds and experiential learning. This is the Midway Experience.
Graduates have been emboldened to surprise the world with complete independence.
Graduates have been inspired to pursue life-long intellectual growth and to change the world through their servant leadership.
Graduates have relied on hard work and moral responsibility to achieve a balanced approach to life.
These qualities are critical today. Character formation is a timeless approach to education. However, the resources needed to facilitate it are not timeless.
