Ms. Donna Russell Moore ’62 President
Greetings and welcome to the Alumni pages of Midway’s updated Web site!
There are so many exciting things happening at Midway College these days space doesn’t allow me to mention them all. However, of special interest to Midway alums might well be the planned construction of a new classroom building. Built in 1925, many of us can attest that Starks Hall was outdated when we were there. To attempt to meet the school’s growing needs, various spaces on each of the floors have been re-purposed over the years, but band-aids will no longer suffice.
The increasing enrollment in each of Midway’s four pillar programs plus the School for Career Development, the Online College and the growing MBA program demand state-of-the-art technology and a different allocation of space than is currently available or even possible with a renovation of the current building. We all hold warm memories of hours spent in Starks Hall but also recognize in order to serve today’s students and faculty, a new building is imperative.
Architects for the yet-to-be-named classroom building have worked diligently to ensure the new structure is in keeping with other buildings on campus and have received input from faculty and staff as to the critical needs it must address. It will occupy the space on which Starks Hall sits but it will be accessible to all and friendly to the environment.
We each have an opportunity to become involved in this exciting and much-needed project by making a contribution at a level we feel appropriate. Many pledge levels are available to assist us reach the Alumni goal of $600,000. Naming opportunities are at the $10,000 level as well as a $100,000 Alumni Challenge to be reached through gifts ranging from $50 to $1,000. No matter the amount of your gift, you can recognize former teachers/professors and classmates that contributed to your success at Midway.
The new classroom building is just one of the positive changes happening on campus right now. There’s more to share next time. Meanwhile, we hope you’ll take a minute to browse other pages of the Midway Web site then join other Midway alumni on FaceBook and Twitter pages. We hope to hear from you!
Until next time,
Donna Russell Moore Campbell ‘62
