The Medical Coding Certificate Program features accelerated instruction and prepares students with an appropriate foundation of skills and knowledge directly applicable to the healthcare support industry. The program emphasizes writing; computer applications; health information management; medical vocabulary; structure and function of the human body; pathological processes; drugs; medical coding, billing, law and ethics.

This program prepares students for the field of health information and medical records as a medical coder. Students who successfully complete this program are prepared to sit for the medical certification exams offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (http://www.aapc.com) and the American Health Information Management Association (http://www.ahima.org).
