Assistant Professor of Education/English as a Second Language Faculty

The Midway College Teacher Education department and the English as a Second Language program seek a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Professor with a specialization in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). The desired candidate will be responsible for teaching Master’s level coursework in the M.Ed. concentration in English as a Second Language. The successful candidate will also teach English to international teachers in our teacher training program. In addition, the successful candidate will supervise full- and part-time faculty within the ESL program.

Primary job responsibilities in addition to normal teaching, advising, and scholarship expectations:

• Teach Master’s level courses in English as a Second Language - courses will be taught in-seat and/or online. Courses may include: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Language Acquisition, Teaching Theory and Methods, Curriculum and Instruction Design.
• Teach English to international teachers enrolled in our international teacher training program.
• Develop curriculum and classes for both the M.Ed and the international teacher training programs.
• Supervise full- and part-time faculty within the ESL program.
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in TESOL or related degree, such as Applied LInguistics.
• Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience (preferably in a college or university).
• Two (2) years in a supervisory or administrative position is highly desirable.
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Have the ability to collaborate and interface well with other faculty and administrators.
• Have an understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures and people and of the language acquisition process.
• International teaching experience is desirable.
• Highly proficient or fluent in a second language is desirable.

English as a Second Language Instructor – Part Time

Midway College seeks a part time English as a Second Language Instructor.

Founded in 1847, the institution serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women’s College and both men and women in accelerated undergraduate, graduate programs and online programs. The College is located in the Bluegrass Region of central Kentucky amid rolling hills, horse farms, and the Bourbon Trail and is within driving distance of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

The Midway College English as a Second Language Program has a position opening for a highly qualified and experienced instructor for a part-time, adjunct instructor position. The instructor will be responsible for teaching English to students who are teachers in their home country for approximately 20 hours per week. In addition to teaching, the instructor will be responsible for maintaining office hours, collaborating with colleagues within the program, and attending departmental meetings.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in TESOL (or related degree)
• Two years’ experience in teaching (preferably at a college or university)
• Highly motivated individual with the ability to assess and adapt to the proficiency needs of students
• Able to teach a rigorous, academically focused curriculum

Business Assistant/Associate Professor

Midway College seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor of Business.

Midway College seeks an Assistant Professor of Psychology to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in-seat and online.

Required qualifications: Doctorate in Psychology from a regionally accredited institution with specialization(s) in clinical or counseling psychology and training regarding alcohol or substance abuse counseling, or similar area. Experience teaching at college level and counseling experience preferred.

Staff

Resident Director

Founded in 1847, Midway College serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women’s College and both men and women in evening accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in the Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky amid rolling hills, horse farms, and the Bourbon Trail and is within driving distance of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

We seek an individual who will direct and administer a comprehensive residence life program in one of the two all-female residence halls on campus.

Duties include staff selection, training and supervision of 3 to 4 Resident Assistants, student conduct, mediation, community development, and administrative/facilities management responsibilities normally associated with residential living. This includes facilitating and attending department meetings, weekly staff meetings, and individual one on one meetings. This position will collaborate with Student Affairs staff members and campus security to help provide a secure residential living environment. Night and weekend duty rotation is required. This position reports to the Director of Residence Life and the First-Year Experience.

This is a twelve month, live-in position; beginning February 1st, 2015, with a small stipend and an apartment, phone service, cable TV, Wi-Fi internet access, utilities and meals. Bachelor’s degree and Residence Life experience preferred.

Assistant Softball Coach

We are seeking applicants for a regular, part-time, 10-month Assistant Softball Coach position.

This position is responsible for supporting all aspects of a successful women’s softball program at the NAIA level. Primary responsibilities include assistance with recruiting, game assistance, practice planning and supervision, academic supervision, eligibility compliance, and driving of a fifteen passenger van.

Position requires a bachelor’s degree, coaching experience, at the college or high school level, and ability to coach and recruit skilled student-athletes.
